Memory Lane Becomes Future Pathway

Timeless.

I was reminded recently of how much I love this movie, specifically the 1959 version. Saw it for the first time when I was 9 or 10. Cried. I didn’t even cry during the Lion King, soooo, that tells you something, hm?

[Wait, take note of how different trailers are compared to nowadays...like way to tell us the whole movie 1960s trailers. But still watch it...the snippets aren't anything without the context.]

So yeah. Like I was saying, I was recently reminded that I love this movie when a friend brought it up in conversation, and how it was in one of her Media Studies classes (woah, WOAH, WOAHHHH! ding, ding, DING!—Am I sensing ANOTHER option for a Major. “Why yes, yes I am” <–Phineas & Ferb reference btw, stay up on your DisneyChannel please and thank you.)

This is an example of a great catchphrase. Simple. Truthful. Universal.

Feelin’ It

Posted in Freeflowin' with tags on September 19, 2010 by btrilogy

On my Art Laboe tip. Mm, this [song below] is that Sunday Kind of Love that just washes over me. Is it weird that I wish I could like drink, eat, and/or bathe in music? I’m talking literally.

Ooo. Classic. I’m thinking the song Juicy Fruit would could come in the form of an elixir–Pomegranate/Honeydew (of course) infused elixir. And if frozen, would be a delicious summer treat. And the bathe scent, man, would be off the chain–smelling like “candy rain coming down”.

Here’s a Freewrite/flow I did July 6th around 8:15; always go with the fresh wounds:

‘Dang’ is the word that pops up,

‘Again’– soon to follow

Have to swallow my pride again (echoes once more)

Before I go face deep/head first into wallow

Why is it always me?

Forever an afterthought

I make you my priority,
While i’m your fading hotts

Damn is what I cast on you

My spurn is soon to follow

I might seem impenetrable,

But my shell isn’t hallow

A heart beats all too fast

And is all too eager

To feel your indifferent hands

Even if your love is meager

An oxymoron within itself

It’s either all or nuthin’

I guess ill take the second hand
Instead of passing emotion

Just feed my need

Just level with me

Can I be the one you dote
Can I be untouchable
Can I be callous
Can I be your one truly
Can I be your prototype

Or the one to take up your time

Will you let me drive you crazy?

Lemme be intoxicating

Your diamond or pearl

The most beautiful girl

Your insatiable craving

“Yo,Hip-Hop started out in the heart, yo now everybody tryin to chart…” “Superstar” by L.Boogie

Legendary

I need an artist like Lauryn Hill mainstreamed again. Mainstreamed but not diluted. There’s a whole generation of kids who are being force fed junk…

“Music is suppose to inspire, How come we ain’t gettin no higher?”

Check out this blurb from ‘TheBlackSnob’: Click hurrrr.

There’s hope, I feel there’s going to be a revolution in music soon–starting with the downfall of the music industry (ie. Labels) with the rise of music downloading/mixtapes/Indie artists.Music shall be returned to the people.

Radical much?

Nostalgic

Out of nowhere, BAM, I became very sentimental about days that I can only imagine and piece together by listening [to tales]. Try and learn about by unearthing [with questions]. And “relive” by watching [captured moments].

What am I talking about?

Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons

Oh, you know, the good ol’ days. Yeah the ones my parentals and grandpadres always bring up. I know you have to take things with a grain of salt…but what’s the fun in that?!

Let’s romanticize–cause sometimes I just need to retreat to the past to understand (…bear) this present.

Hablame

Posted in Freeflowin' on April 21, 2010 by btrilogy

I honestly wouldn’t mind if musicians nowadays talked to me in their songs…

Like for real, stop singing, and start preachin’.

For Example: ‘Fire & Desire’ by Rick James Feat. Teena Marie/’Woman to Woman’ by Shirley Brown/’Tonight Is the Night’ by Betty Wright

I know that ‘The [Music] Industry’ has its formulated ways to make mainstream hits, and discourages songs that are longer than 4 minutes in order that they allot enough radio time to play the same 7 songs over and over again on repeat….

I agree with Badu, make 10 minute songs if the piece calls for it to be that long…

I was reminded that I’m often drawn to “informality” because of Lenny William’s single, ‘Cause I Love You’.

Cause I Love You by tuffstuff16

The song includes monologuing (aka jammin’) and is lengthy (aka jammin’).

P.S. Jammin’: umm, just feelin it. in the moment. no questions asked. no doubts.

Beck – Hell Yes by jamiee23

Only Makes Sense.

[SheWoman] returned for a short stint before I braided her up again.

All powerful and All Funk-i-fied!

-Sigh- I could never go natural, I am wayyy too lazy. Talk about being your own worst enemy! I found this out the hard way. I was rockin’ my fro hard earlier this year, BUT i had no clue what I was doing…so I did more damage to [SheWoman] than I ever imagined.

Because she’s fierce. She withstood the test.

She took refuge in a good Press&Wrap and then Braids.

One day, when I overcome my lackadaisical manners, [SheWoman] will return–and bring the FUNK to a Whole New Level.

Promise.
